About M
My name is M. I have been a dancer since I was 7. A dance teacher since about 16.
I teach at a dance studios, primary schools and a university. I am a choreographer for community theatre companies. In my normal work time I am a saleswoman for dance specific sprung floors and dance vinyl, dabbling a little in ballet barres and other accessories. In my own time, I love the vintage and retro lifestyle. I like the classic nature of the 40s, 50s and early 60s. I love how my enjoyment of human history has influenced and added to my knowledge of vintage fashion. Its something I can spend hours researching. |
Sewing
|
My sewing interest was sparked during my time as a dancer when my mum made pretty much every single costume I wore. I loved watching her make magical garments that were practical.
2005. In my final year of school, I chose Textiles and Design as an elective. Never looked back. |
Knitting
|
2009. Final teaching practicum placement in Melbourne. Mum came down and joined me for my last week. I was so bored so she taught me how to knit. I made a long scarf in a lilac yarn, garter stitch all the way. It was too long to ever be worn practically. Since then I have made many sweaters for myself, scarves, tops, cowls, capes and wraps.
If I sits, I knits. |
